DATE: George I, c.1720

An astonishing early 18th century heart pendant set with 12 glistening rose cut diamonds. The stones rest in closed settings over silver foil - a cunning trick that allows light to be reflected back out through the stones giving a bright and lively appearance. The central stone is triangular in shape, and - having been cut by hand - they all possess great, asymmetrical, wonky characters. No laser precision uniformity here. The back is engraved with the most charming assortment of flowers and foliage: two sunflowers appear to be looking at one another, growing out of a rose and surrounded by a heart-shaped border. The pendant's crafted in 15 karat yellow gold, made during the reign of George I - circa 1720.
